Rueitai Historic Trail: This famous trail links Rueili and Taihe and was once used by local villagers to carry goods to market. The trail winds through lush groves of bamboo, tea plantations and other scenic sights, setting out from the 32.2km marker on County Hwy 122 and forking at Moyoukeng.
The entire trail is 2.3km long and takes about three hours to walk, though a more manageable stroll (about 30 minutes) can be taken to Cibu Echo Valley.
Yanzih (Swallow) Cliff: This unusual cliff has vertical striations and jutting rock overhangs with small neatly arranged apertures. At one time the cliff offered shelter to nesting swallows, though not any longer. When rainwater pours down its side, it creates a curtain of water when viewed from the under passing trail.
Yuntan Waterfall: A 500-step climb is necessary to see this three-step waterfall, considered the top scenic site in Rueili. In summer, the waters cascade down in force, painting a majestic silver white cord that terminates in a veil of spray. Food and refreshments are available from the rest stop at the trailhead. |
